Fibers

Stack of SweatersWe use only natural fibers — wool and cotton. We use finely worked and specially processed qualities of wool with certain hand-knit sweaters (boucle and jasmine). These wools are so soft that wool-sensitive customers are sometimes not bothered by them. The cotton is “virgin” in the sense that it has not been processed with chemicals like domestic cotton is.

These hand-knit garments should be handled with care to ensure that they maintain their shape. Using a reputable dry cleaner is best (a non-water process). If you choose to machine-wash your garment, it should be washed separately in the delicate/knit or wool cycle (minimal agitation). I recommend a liquid soap such as Ivory Liquid, Dawn, Joy, etc., or a gentle soap from a natural foods store. Garments should be hand blocked and dried flat after machine or hand washing. No dryers.

Uniformity

Woven Jacket closeviewThere will be differences from piece to piece because we hand process and dye much of the cotton and wool. The garments and buttons also are hand made by multiple artisans. The number of buttons sometimes will vary depending on size of the garment. The lack of machine consistency is part of the charm. We are committed to continuous advances in elements of design, quality of work, finishing details, and consistency in sizing in this wonderful craftsmanship.
